Core Values

Since its inception in 1991, the organization has projected itself as a progressive left force aligned with the mass democratic movement. In this tradition, having learnt lessons of the post-1994 context, TRALSO believes that genuine rural development in South Africa will only arise once the rural people are empowered to pursue diverse activities of social production and reproduction.
As an institution involved in transactional relationships with strategic partners and its clientele base, tralso aspires to live and be bound by the following values:
a) Diligence (self-driven management team, commitment to serving the people, assertive in representing the interests of the poor)
b) Promptness (responding to matters of public and citizens interests within reasonable time including acknowledging and keeping people informed of processes)
c) Integrity (transparency, honesty, good democratic ethics, impartial of matters of public good and interest and building an NGO that transcends political and social boundaries)
d) Accountability (responsible, taking ownership, discipline efficient and implanting a culture of a demand driven development paradigm)
e) Participative (building a reciprocal relationship between management and all internal stakeholders, between the board and administration, between TRALSO and her constituencies)
f) Responsive (building a service friendly organisational environment, ensuring a proactive, flexible, creative and quality conscious development paradigm)
g) Considerate (implanting a culture of compassionate, caring and emotional intelligent organisational environment that prioritizes its employees and local level beneficiaries)
h) Listening (building and implementing a culture of creative listening and implementation of the views of the rural people in policy and development that affects them.
