The mire of rural poverty in the region is due in large part to the so called free market system eluding the majority of its citizens.
TRALSO leverages the cooperative economic model as a solution that will allow rural producers to produce and distribute their produce cheaply and efficiently. TRALSO views cooperatives as a means of reducing inequalities by removing and circumventing commercial disadvantages for the small producer.
The cooperative model will foster a spirit of self reliance, initiative and mutual cooperation to build viable land based enterprises in the rural Transkei.
TRALSO will help cooperative enterprises to by amongst other things:
Facilitating access to government support services and facilities
Providing cooperative education and institutional capacity building support
Facilitating networking and exchange opportunities
