Rural life is characterised by limited diversity of land-based livelihood activities. Food supply is uncertain and irregular for many rural households, and there is a lack of access to resources, skills and information to engage in viable activities.
This program improves the quality of life for communities, ensuring the availability of food and providing security to rural households. In addition, market opportunities are identified and exploited with the establishment of marketing institutions within the community. The resulting income that results from agricultural production provides further security in terms of available funds for a sustained livelihood.
