There is extensive degradation of land in most parts of the Transkei, coupled with poor environmental management practices. The project aims to restore degraded land and improve environmental management practices. It also focuses on mobilising communities in targeted areas, encouraging their involvement in sustainable natural resource management.

 

This programme has resulted in an increase in restored land available for productive use with greater community awareness and involvement in environmental management projects.
